Laura Sacerdote is full professor of Probability and Statistics since March 2000, at the Department of Mathematics of Turin University. She is coordinator of graduate program in mathematics of Torino University and she has also some administrative roles in Department and Faculty commissions. Previously she has been a tenured research associate and then Associate Professor of Probability and Statistics at the Universities of Salerno and Turin. From August 1998 to July 1999 she has been a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Statistics of the North Carolina State University at Raleigh (U.S.A.), taking part in the local program of Biomathematics. Since the work done for her thesis in Physics at the University of Turin, supervised by Professor L.M. Ricciardi, her research activity has been focused on the application of the theory of stochastic processes to biological modeling. Her main research theme during the past several years, partly carried out in collaboration with Naples research group and partly autonomously or with international collaborations, consists of the study of stochastic processes with special emphasis on modeling biological systems and on the mathematical description of neurons. She is the author of numerous papers appearing mainly in international journals and in proceedings of international meetings in which she has participated by invitation. She has organized and chaired various international workshops. Recently she was in the Scientific and organizing Commitee of the 5th International Workshop ``Neuronal Coding'' hold in Aulla (Ms) from September 20 through 25, 2003 she has organized the International School ''Does noise simplify or complicate the dynamics of non linear systems?'' held inTorino from April 13 to 17 and has chaired the workshop ''Noise and biological Systems'' held in Torino from April 19 to 21, 2004 . Recently she was in the local Organizing Committee of Biocomp 2005 and she has organized (July 2006) a special Session on "Stochastic Processes and their Application" at "Mathematics and its Application" French Italian Meeting with G. Pistone (Politecnico of Torino), G. Peccati (Paris VI) and Marc Yor (Paris VI). She was advisor for various ph.d. thesis in applied mathematics. She is member of the scientific committee of  9-th Neural Coding” that will take place at Limassol Cyprus, on October 29- November 3, 2010. Recently she has visited the
``Probabilités et Modèles Aléatoires'', Paris VI (February 2009), SAMSI, NC, USA (April 2010).

She was advisor for various ph.d. thesis in applied mathematics and she coordinates the activity of a group of 4 research associates in Torino Mathematics Department.
