The Department of Mathematics at the University of Turin was formed in 1982/1983, when the former Institutes of Geometry and Algebra, Mathematical Analysis, Numerical Analysis and Computing, Mathematical Logic, History and Didactics, and Mathematical Library, merged together. In 1997, the Institute of Mathematical Physics J.L. Lagrange also joined the Department. The mission statement of the Department is to foster research and teaching in Mathematics and Mathematics-related fields. The Department has a Chairman(1) and an Executive Board(2). The "Consiglio di Dipartimento" is made up of the Instructors and Staff. The Department is located in Palazzo Campana, an old building in the historic center of Turin.
